Sunday's Whirligig given words:
searching, impotent, molest, nightmares,
aubades (a song or poem of lovers parting at dawn)
calm curl, moonlight sun, dogs,

Poets United Midweek Motif:
colors

3WW gicen words:
obituary placid resonant

Searching question he had always
wanted to ask
Reasons why he was impotent

Was he given to molest young
maidens that it had now gone placid
He had nightmares to no end
Karma had a hand in this
that you reaped what you sowed?

He could not understand it
Bade his aubades with pristine calmness
when she was still curled up in bed
in all instances
Traces of moonlight still visible
and the sun had yet to appear
Even the dogs outside remained quiet

Resonant with the tranquility
He tried to put colors into all of
his relationships to liven things up
Always her welfare uppermost

He remained confident that his
obituary later should reflect
his gentlemanly gentle soul
of a person but why made
him suffer now

'Beats me!' he lamented
in soliloquy sadness

  1. Wow I love the tension in your verse Hank. The subject toils over his life, his death, and this woman ...
(an aside - your are coloring in nightmares and Im coloring in dreams - curious)

  3. What a tale you have spun with the given words. Ably told, Hank. You describe his outwardly gentlemanly exterior, the angst of his inner dialogue so well.

  9. An intriguing and beautiful poem Hank, plus I learned a new word "Aubades" meaning morning love song. We should definitely appreciate the good in life when we live it as one day sadness will surround us.

  13. I'm still wondering if he did molest young maidens. If he did, karma has been kind to him.. This is quite a story you've woven Hank.

  16. Perhaps preparing so well for one's demise prevents enjoyment of the moment...there can be poetry and humour in that but does it provide real happiness? thoughtful and unique write as ever Hank
